About Me

From 2001 to 2005 I worked in the legal profession and qualified as a solicitor in 2004. I mainly undertook medico-legal work involving accidents at work and industrial disease. This meant that I had to learn medical terms for obtaining and reading medical notes and correspondence with medical professionals relating to each individual Claimant’s medical condition. I also have experience in family law and probate.

My interests include hill walking, music, literature and genealogy. Being a translator enables me to combine work with pleasure and I especially enjoy translating documents relating to these areas.

I originally did a joint honours degree in Law and German. As part of this course I spent a year at Innsbruck University. I am therefore able to translate Austrian German documents in addition to standard German. I also have an MA in Translation in a European Context. For my master’s degree I studied both German and French and passed exams in both languages.

I provide a high quality professional service and work hard to ensure that every detail is accurate and deadlines are met.

I believe that a lawyer's mind is perfect for translation - I strive to ensure that I achieve the best possible result by researching the subject thoroughly. This approach means that my translations achieve the balance of being an accurate reflection of the original whilst also being readable and fluent documents in their own right.
